Rules disputes around golf matches have been going on ever since someone first took a swing at a golf ball. Well, the Spring Scramble was no exception. It turns out that what seemed to be the winning putt on the 18th green turned out to be made with a non-conforming putter.
The USGA plainly requires that "The shaft must be straight from the top of the grip to a point not more than 5 inches above the sole, measured from the point where the shaft ceases to be straight along the axis of the bent part of the shaft."
